Frankfurt Airport (FRA) now has three passenger terminals. Lufthansa and most Star Alliance airlines use Terminal 1, while many other airlines have moved from Terminal 2 to the new Terminal 3, which opened in April 2026. The terminals are linked by the free SkyLine people-mover train. This guide helps you find the right terminal, move between them and plan your ride to or from the airport.
Which terminal is my airline?
Airlines at Frankfurt are grouped mainly by alliance:
- Terminal 1: Lufthansa, Lufthansa Group airlines and most Star Alliance members (for example United, Air Canada, Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines). Terminal 1 has halls A, B, C and Z.
- Terminal 2: halls D and E. Since the opening of Terminal 3, fewer airlines operate here.
- Terminal 3: opened 22 April 2026. Around 57 airlines that used to fly from Terminal 2 moved here in phases during May and June 2026.
Tip: terminal assignments changed a lot in 2026. Always check the terminal on your boarding pass or your airline’s app on the day of travel – older blog posts and maps may be out of date.
How to get between terminals
- Terminal 1 ↔ Terminal 2: SkyLine train, about 2 minutes, free and frequent. A shuttle bus also runs landside.
- Terminal 1 ↔ Terminal 3: new automated SkyLine line, about 8 minutes.
- Minimum connection times are longer when you change terminals and pass security again. Leave extra time if your connection involves Terminal 3.
Frankfurt Airport map: the key points to know
Instead of a complex floor plan, remember these landmarks:
- Regional train station (Regionalbahnhof): below Terminal 1, hall B. S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 to Frankfurt city centre and Mainz/Wiesbaden.
- Long-distance train station (Fernbahnhof): connected to Terminal 1 by a walkway. ICE trains to Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart and more.
- Frankfurt Airport Center (FAC): office and service complex right next to Terminal 1 – useful if you have meetings at the airport.
- Terminal 3: located on the south side of the airport with its own road access. It does not have its own long-distance train station, so if you go by train you change to the SkyLine at Terminal 1.
The official interactive map is on the Fraport website. For trips by train from the city, read our guide Frankfurt main station to the airport.
Arriving: where to meet a private driver
Veloria Ride drivers meet you at Terminal 1, Exit B6 with a name sign (see pickup instructions). If you land at Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, tell us your flight number when booking – we track your flight and confirm the exact meeting point, so you don’t have to cross the airport with your luggage.
Departing: tell your driver the terminal
Because Terminal 3 is reached by a different road than Terminals 1 and 2, giving the wrong terminal can cost 15 minutes or more. When you book a ride to the airport, add your airline and flight number. Our drivers check the terminal again on the day and drop you right at the door.
Visiting the Frankfurt Airport Center for business
For meetings at the FAC or nearby offices, a pre-booked car with hourly booking is practical: the driver waits while you are in your meeting and takes you to the next appointment or back to your hotel. See our business chauffeur service.
