Many hotels near Frankfurt Airport advertise an airport shuttle, but the details vary widely: some run free buses every 20–30 minutes, others only at fixed times, charge a fee or stop late at night. Before booking, check the shuttle hours, the price, which terminals it serves and whether you need to reserve a seat.
Three types of airport hotels in Frankfurt
- On-airport hotels – connected to Terminal 1 or the long-distance train station by walkway (for example at The Squaire). No shuttle needed for Terminal 1; higher room prices.
- Hotels in the airport area – Kelsterbach, Mörfelden-Walldorf, Raunheim, Rüsselsheim, Neu-Isenburg, Frankfurt-Niederrad. Usually 5–15 minutes away; many offer a shuttle bus.
- City hotels – in Frankfurt city centre, 20–30 minutes away. Rarely a free shuttle, but good S-Bahn connections.
Checklist: questions to ask the hotel
- Is the shuttle free or paid, and is it per person?
- What are the first and last departure times? Does it cover a 5 a.m. flight or a midnight arrival?
- Does it stop at Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the new Terminal 3?
- Do you need to reserve, and where exactly is the pickup point?
- Is there room for large luggage, prams or ski bags?
Hotel reviews on booking platforms often mention whether the shuttle actually runs on time – read the recent ones.
When a hotel shuttle is not enough
Shared hotel shuttles work well for single travellers with time to spare. A private transfer is the better choice if:
- your flight lands late and the last shuttle has gone,
- you depart very early and don’t want to wait outside for a fixed bus slot,
- you are a group or family who wouldn’t fit in one shuttle run,
- your hotel has no shuttle at all, or you are staying in Mainz, Wiesbaden or Darmstadt.
Veloria Ride is based in Rüsselsheim, just minutes from most airport hotels. We pick you up at your hotel’s entrance and take you to the right terminal – or meet you at Terminal 1, Exit B6 after landing and drive you to your hotel. See our terminal guide for the 2026 terminal changes.
Combine your hotel night with a city tour
