Travelling to Speyer from FRA
Speyer is an old imperial city on the Rhine, famous for its Romanesque cathedral and its large technology museum. It lies about 95 km south of Frankfurt Airport. By train, you normally change in Mannheim or Ludwigshafen. A private transfer takes you there directly.
Our price covers the whole vehicle, which seats up to seven, so it works well for families and groups visiting the city.
The drive
We take the A67 south from the airport, then the A6 and A61 towards Speyer. The trip is about 95 km and usually takes 60 to 75 minutes. Traffic on the Rhine bridges near Mannheim can add time at rush hour.
Visiting the Technik Museum
The Technik Museum Speyer displays aircraft, spacecraft and ships, including a real space shuttle. Many visitors fly into Frankfurt specifically to see it. We can drive you directly to the museum entrance or to your hotel nearby.
Why not a taxi?
A metered taxi for 95 km can be expensive and the fare depends on traffic. Our transfer uses a larger vehicle and a fixed price agreed in advance.
Drivers meet you inside the terminal and help with luggage, which a regular taxi rank does not offer.
Business travel
Companies in Speyer and the Palatinate host international visitors throughout the year. We offer discreet chauffeur service, name signs and invoices for corporate clients.
Pfalz wine and the Rhine
Speyer sits at the eastern edge of the Palatinate, one of Germany's largest wine regions. Many visitors combine a stay in the city with trips along the German Wine Route to Deidesheim or Neustadt. We can take you from Frankfurt Airport straight to a winery hotel, or collect you there at the end of your holiday.
River cruise passengers also embark in Speyer on Rhine itineraries. Tell us the pier and sailing time and we will plan the pickup accordingly.
Speyer through the year
Spring brings blossoming gardens along the Rhine. In July, Speyer hosts the Brezelfest, one of the largest folk festivals on the Upper Rhine, named after the local pretzel. Autumn is grape harvest season in the Palatinate, and in December the Maximilianstrasse becomes a Christmas market leading to the cathedral.
Groups and families
One V-Class seats up to seven people, so families and small groups can travel together. For larger parties, such as choirs or sports clubs, we send several vehicles at the same time. Please tell us the number of suitcases and any sports equipment when you book.
Business travel from the Palatinate
Companies in Speyer, Schifferstadt and the surrounding district regularly send staff to trade fairs and customers abroad. We provide transfers to Frankfurt Airport and to the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. International guests can be met at arrivals, taken to their stand or meeting, and driven to their hotel in the evening. Monthly invoices are available, and for frequent travellers we save addresses and preferences so booking takes only a moment.
On the way back, if you land late in the evening, the drive along the A67 and A61 is quiet and you will be home in about an hour.
Nearby towns
Schifferstadt, Limburgerhof, Neuhofen and Altrip lie north of Speyer along the Rhine; Böhl-Iggelheim and Hassloch are to the west towards Neustadt. We collect from all of them at a fixed price, with drive times of 55 to 75 minutes to the airport.
Romanesque masterpiece
Speyer Cathedral, consecrated in 1061, is one of the largest Romanesque churches in the world. Eight emperors and kings are buried in its crypt. A climb up the south-west tower offers wide views over the Rhine plain and the Palatinate Forest.
Pickup in the old town
Parts of Speyer's old town around the cathedral and the Maximilianstrasse are pedestrian zones. Our drivers know where they can stop near the hotels, for example at the Domplatz or the Postplatz. Tell us your hotel when booking and we will choose the closest meeting point and help with your luggage.
Hockenheim race weekends
Across the Rhine lies Hockenheim, with its famous race track. On race weekends, fans arrive from all over the world. We take them from the airport to hotels in Speyer or Hockenheim, allowing extra time for event traffic.
Payment
You can pay online when booking, and companies can pay by invoice. A receipt is emailed after every ride.
