Your transfer to the university town
Marburg is a historic university town on the river Lahn, about 100 km north of Frankfurt Airport. Trains run from Frankfurt Central Station, but you need to change there first. A private transfer takes you straight from the terminal to your address.
Each year, many international students and researchers arrive at Philipps University. We meet them at the airport, help with large suitcases and drive them directly to their accommodation.
Route and travel time
The route follows the A5 north past Bad Homburg and Friedberg to Giessen, then the B3 to Marburg. It is about 100 km and takes 65 to 75 minutes in normal traffic.
Who we drive
Students starting a semester, visiting scientists, staff at biotech and pharmaceutical companies, and patients travelling to the university hospital all use our service. Drivers speak English and help with luggage.
For companies, we offer invoicing and can display a company sign at pickup.
Train, bus or private car?
Buses are cheap but run at fixed times and stop along the way. Trains require a change in Frankfurt. With heavy luggage or after a long flight, a private car is easier.
Our price is per vehicle, not per person, so groups often pay less than they would by train.
Pickup at the airport
We track your flight and adjust the pickup if it is early or late. Your driver waits in the public arrivals area with a sign. The first 60 minutes after landing are included.
Arriving for the semester
Every April and October, new students land at Frankfurt with everything they own in two or three suitcases. Our driver meets them in arrivals, loads the bags and drives straight up the A5 to Marburg. Several friends arriving on similar flights can share one vehicle and split the fixed price. If you are moving into a residence on the Lahnberge or in the Upper Town, give us the exact address and we will find the entrance, even on the steep lanes.
Marburg to Frankfurt Airport for departures
Going home or on holiday? For the trip from Marburg to Frankfurt Airport, we suggest arriving at the terminal two hours before a European flight and three hours before a long-haul one. With a drive of just over an hour plus a buffer for traffic, that usually means a pickup about three and a half to four and a half hours before departure.
Students heading home at the end of term often share a car. Since the price is per vehicle, splitting it between three or four people makes it very affordable.
A brief history
Philipps University, founded in 1527, is the oldest Protestant university in the world still in operation. The Brothers Grimm studied law here, and the town later inspired several of their fairy tales. Around a third of Marburg's residents are students, which gives the old town a lively feel in the evenings.
Visiting patients and researchers
The university hospital on the Lahnberge is one of the major medical centres in Hesse, and the biotech and vaccine sites in Marburg attract scientists from around the world. Patients and their families, visiting professors and company guests all use our service. We drive directly to the hospital or company entrance and can arrange return trips to the airport after appointments or conferences. Drivers speak English, help with luggage and wait in arrivals with a name sign. For organisations that host visitors regularly, we offer monthly invoicing.
Kirchhain and Stadtallendorf
In the east of the district, Kirchhain, Amöneburg and Stadtallendorf are home to several large manufacturers. Business travellers from there reach Frankfurt Airport in about 80 to 90 minutes with us, compared with two train changes by rail. We also collect from Neustadt and Rauschenberg.
Pickup in the Upper Town
Marburg's Upper Town is steep and many lanes are closed to cars. Our drivers know the nearest pickup points, such as Pilgrimstein with its lifts to the old town, or Rudolphsplatz by the river. You can name a meeting point when booking, and your driver will help carry your bags to the car.
Frankfurt Airport to Marburg at night
Late-evening flights are common, and regional trains become infrequent after 10 p.m. With a pre-booked driver you can leave the terminal as soon as you have your luggage and be in Marburg a little over an hour later, at the same price as during the day.
Exploring Marburg
Marburg is compact and easy to explore on foot:
- Landgrave Castle: above the old town with views over the Lahn valley
- St. Elisabeth Church: one of the earliest Gothic churches in Germany
- Upper Town: steep lanes, half-timbered houses and the old market square
- River Lahn: paths, meadows and boat hire in summer
