Getting between Koblenz and FRA

Koblenz, where the Moselle meets the Rhine, is about 120 km from Frankfurt Airport. There is no airport of its own, and the train usually means changing in Mainz or taking a bus to Montabaur for the ICE. A private driver takes you directly.

Many of our guests are river cruise passengers. Ships often start or end in Koblenz, and we take you from the arrivals hall straight to the pier.

Route and timing

We drive via the A3 motorway through the Taunus and Westerwald hills, then the A48 into Koblenz. In normal traffic the journey takes 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30 minutes. In winter we allow extra time on the higher sections.

Transfers for river cruise passengers

Koblenz is one of the main embarkation points for Rhine and Moselle river cruises. Passengers from North America, the UK and Australia usually fly into Frankfurt. We meet you after baggage claim and drive you directly to the pier, so you do not have to manage luggage on trains.

For couples or groups travelling together, one V-Class takes up to seven guests. Larger groups can book several vehicles that travel at the same time.

Train or private car?

The train from Frankfurt Airport to Koblenz usually involves a change, either in Mainz or via the high-speed line to Montabaur followed by a regional connection. That is manageable with light luggage but tiring after a long-haul flight.

A private transfer costs the same whether one person or seven travel, and it takes you from the terminal to your hotel door. Many guests find the time saved is worth it, especially when arriving early in the morning.

Business and government travel

Koblenz is home to federal agencies, a major military procurement office and the WHU business school in nearby Vallendar. Visitors arrive from all over the world. Our chauffeurs offer a discreet, reliable service, and we can invoice your organisation directly.

We also drive to Cologne/Bonn and Frankfurt-Hahn airports when your flight departs from there.

Koblenz to Frankfurt Airport: practical details

If you are travelling from Koblenz to Frankfurt Airport for a flight, we suggest a pickup about three and a half hours before a long-haul departure and three hours before a European one. That allows for the drive, check-in and security. Your booking confirmation includes a suggested pickup time.

Hotels along the Rhine promenade and in the old town are easy to reach, and we can also collect you from cruise ships moored at the Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer or the Moselle quays.

The Rhine Valley from Koblenz

South of Koblenz the Rhine winds through a deep gorge lined with castles and vineyards. The Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stretches to Bingen and includes the famous Loreley rock. Many visitors spend a few days exploring by boat or train. We can bring you from Frankfurt Airport to towns such as Boppard, St. Goar or Oberwesel, or collect you there at the end of your trip.

Arriving for a Rhine or Moselle cruise

Most cruise lines ask passengers to board in the afternoon. If your flight lands in Frankfurt in the morning, we can take you straight to the pier, or to a hotel in the old town if you want to rest first. After the cruise, we collect you at the ship and drive you back to the airport in time for your flight home. Please give us the name of the ship and the pier location, as Koblenz has several landing stages on both rivers. Our drivers help with heavy cruise luggage and know where to stop close to the gangway.

Andernach, Neuwied and the Moselle

Besides Koblenz itself, we pick up in Neuwied, Andernach and Mayen to the north, and in the Moselle villages such as Winningen and Kobern-Gondorf to the south-west. Drive times to Frankfurt Airport range from about 75 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, depending on the location. The fixed price is shown for your exact address before you book.

Families

Families save themselves a train journey with changes. Child seats are free, and there is room for strollers and travel cots. During the drive through the hills, children can sleep or play.
